Salut Gilles - The Canadian Grand Prix is coming up from the June 5 -7 and ‘things’ have begun arriving

Do you see all these containers? Guess what they’re filled with.

Here’s a closer look at a few

Yes - the garages are in! For those who don’t know, teams transport most of their garage by ship. There are no car parts, but rather tools, benches, pretty much the entire garage sans car.

As you can also see they’ve got all their food prep materials there - WOW there’s a lot of food trays for the teams and the paddocks are clean and ready to be setup.

*Little known fact: When the track isn’t used for the Grand Prix, it’s used primarily by cyclists as a training ground and for racing.

Here’s the grid position 1: It was an amazing sensation to pause for a moment and take in the fact that I was standing in a place that next week an F1 car would be starting the race.

I apologize for the quality. I rushed down there right before sunset and there’s no stopping on the track for safety reasons (most cyclists are bombing at over 20mph) and the bugs were plentiful (I turned brown from thousands of bugs crushed on me).

If anyone’s interested I’ll try and slip down there another time before the race to try and snag some more shots. Also, any photo requests of the track are welcome.

Nice pics. I had so much fun in Montreal last year. I especially liked seeing the Canadian Touring Cars after one of the F1 practice days. That whole series looks like a hoot.

Thanks! Definitely! it really is a hoot - they have the Micra series here in Quebec too haha. I wonder how many oppos are showing up this year. I feel so fortunate to live in a city that hosts a Grand Prix

I went to the Montreal GP in 2010. It was awesome fun. I’m jealous of whatever you do that lets you be there.

Nice. I’ll be there in about a week. It’ll be my first Canadian GP and the first time I hear the turbo engines in person. I don’t expect the glorious shriek that the V8s had but I’ve been told the V6s are better in person so I’ve got my hopes up.

That is awesome and now I really cannot wait as it is also my very first F1 race!!! Any idea if we can actually run to the track during the Podium Ceremony? Or are those reserved to certain people?

It was possible when I went to the race in Belgium but I don’t know about Montreal. If it’s anything like Spa they will open up an access near the front straight or first corner to allow people on to the track.

When the two wheelers are away maybe you can revisit the track and do a photo POV walking the drivers line. Every five or ten feet take a photo, then walk forward five or ten feet take another pix. Don’t forget to do pit in and pit out!
Pull all the photos into some photo program, iPhoto etc, sort the photos by date and export as a quicktime. Bring that video into a video editor change its length to the typical length of one lap from last year. Convert into a web friendly file, serves millions!
You will have something of value for years to come, you captured this track at this moment and inevitably it will change. Maybe you could get in touch with Jacques Villeneuve and have him stand in as a driver when you take the photos, make him bring his helmut and billowy race suit. A week later, after posting the fantastic video, interview Villeneuve about the track and by running through the video you both made together. What surprised you Jacques, what has changed Jacques, what is your favorite corner and why Jacques, where do you have the best contact with fans when racing Jacques?

I think so. I know Force India cheated in the first corner at one point and there was a large crash at the beginning of the race.

I’ll be in Montreal for the entire week! Although my schedule is pretty packed, so I’m not sure if I’ll be able to make it to an oppo meetup. I’m all the way at turn 10.
